The geography of the new curriculum focus (ICT) looks like it is set to change. This could this has implications for current PD activities in our region. IT would seem that there is going to be a bigger and sustained influence on teachers engaging with the new framework. This can only imporve our learning outcomes for students. Teachers need to be able to be fully congnisant with the head space occupied by students who by nature of their age are GenY.
Sadly this will also have implications for policy and procedures at a school level.
At our school the process of moving the school library from archival centre to integrated e-Learning centre will hopefully address some of the issues. It is my aim to transform (morph) the building into a fully functional e-Learning centre that embodies the spirit of the smart classrooms agenda. How long this will take to come into fuition will remain to be seen.

Getting started
I have been quite lazy about blogging. I have been quick to talk about the values of it both personally and professionally but after losing my previous blog, strangley I never got around to getting another up and going.
It's going to be a big year this year professionally so a blog is the perfect way to keep track of what I hope to achieve, and provide a record to reflect on.
I am sitting at the airport about to head off to the Smart Classrooms PD framework update. The purpose of these two days will be to be re accredited as an Acc Fac. and to be able to come back to the Mackay Whitsunday region and spread the good word on that front.
A second driving force is that I plan to be able to morph the school library from a 1980's traditional library into a Century 21 learning Centre. This is not going to happen over night. Even though there will be funding available to realise this dream, it occurs to me that we need more than just a physical change in the school to make this a reality. It is one thing to spend the money, but have we really moved forward if there is no change in the current culture of the pedagogy that is most practiced in our 1970's style classrooms.
My task this year will be to make a small inroad into this, and quietly lead an education revolution at the school.
